Advocacy
Flexible Working Scotland is an advocate for flexible working to support people, families and employers.
Our community of 30,000 people represents an extraordinary resource - a self-selected group with direct, lived experience of trying to make work work. Their insights inform everything we do, and can be made available to organisations and academics working on policy, research, consultation and campaigns in this space.
Lynn is an experienced media contributor, speaker and writer on women's careers and flexible work, with established relationships across government, parliaments and the advocacy landscape. We are open to working with campaigning and policy organisations whose values align with those of Flexible Working Scotland to amplify the right messages, in the right rooms, to the right people.
Flexible Working Rights
-
In the UK, workers have the right to request flexible working from day 1 of employment. If you are starting a new job, it makes sense to have this conversation ahead of your first day so that you and your employer are on the same page and importantly, you know you can do the job which you have been offered.
This can be a tricky conversation and candidates and employees are often worried about when and how to ask for the flexible working arrangements that will work best for them. -
