Fewer Applications. Far Less Guesswork.

Finding values-aligned candidates without the noise.

The Challenge

The Melting Pot is Scotland's Centre for Social Innovation: a community of people working to make the world a better place. Like many values-driven organizations, they face familiar hiring challenges: one-click applications with little thought or effort, and high volumes of candidates who don't match the skills or experience needed.

Chief Executive Officer Helen Denny joined Flexible Working Scotland's beta launch hoping to find "high quality candidates, an easy to use platform that enables us to quickly upload job roles, and reach a more diverse audience."

The Flexible Working Scotland Experience

When The Melting Pot advertised for a Community & Growth Manager, the team wanted high-quality candidates aligned with their values without sifting through dozens of poor-fit applications.

The platform's focus on flexible working acted as a natural filter, attracting candidates who applied deliberately and were more likely to be values-aligned from the outset.

"It was good to be able to promote our role on a site that we know advocates for flexible work,"

Helen says. "Applicants who came via your platform would already be aligned with our values and ethos as a company."

The Results

Even during the beta phase, the difference was clear:

● Fewer applications, but far less guesswork about fit

● The FWS applicant was immediately shortlist-worthy and progressed to interview

● Minimal screening time compared to high-volume channels like Indeed

"We had good quality across the board, but in comparison to Indeed the applicants were of a much higher calibre."

The platform itself? "Simple to use." Straightforward posting to reach candidates worth considering from the first application.

Would Helen recommend it?

When asked what she'd tell another employer frustrated with the quality or volume of candidates from traditional job boards:

"I would encourage them to use this platform for good quality and diverse candidates."

The Bottom Line

In an oversubscribed hiring market, FWS doesn't promise more of the same. It helps you spend your attention on candidates who are far more likely to be right.
